Building Tomorrow's Game Developers
We're not your typical coding bootcamp. Since 2019, we've been quietly building something different — a place where future game developers actually learn to think like developers, not just memorize syntax.
How We Got Started
Back in 2019, three former AAA game studio developers were having coffee in Vancouver and complaining about the same thing: new hires who could code but couldn't actually build games. They knew algorithms but stumbled when asked to create engaging player experiences.

That frustration became ChillJackie. Instead of another generic programming course, we built our curriculum around real game development challenges. Students don't just learn JavaScript — they use it to create slot mechanics that keep players engaged. They don't memorize CSS properties — they design interfaces that make complex games feel intuitive.
What makes us different? We teach practical game development from day one. No theoretical exercises or abstract examples. Every assignment connects directly to something you'd actually build in the gaming industry.
Our Teaching Philosophy
Most coding programs teach you to pass tests. We teach you to solve real problems. When you finish our program, you won't just know how to write clean code — you'll understand how players think, how games feel engaging, and how technical decisions impact user experience.

Kieran Blackwood
Lead Curriculum Designer
Kieran spent eight years building mobile games at Electronic Arts before joining us in 2020. He's obsessed with making complex programming concepts click for students. His background in psychology helps him understand why certain explanations work better than others.

Zara Pemberton
Senior JavaScript Instructor
Zara joined us from Ubisoft Montreal where she worked on three major releases. She teaches our advanced JavaScript modules and specializes in helping students understand game engine architecture. Students appreciate her direct feedback and practical examples.
What We Actually Teach
Our autumn 2025 cohort starts September 16th with twelve weeks of hands-on learning. You'll work with HTML5 Canvas, JavaScript ES6+, and modern game development frameworks. But more importantly, you'll understand why certain technical choices create better player experiences.
Real Project Experience
Build actual casino games, not classroom exercises. Your portfolio will include working slot machines, card games, and interactive experiences.
Industry Mentorship
Weekly code reviews with developers from major gaming studios. Learn professional workflows and get honest feedback on your progress.
Problem-Solving Focus
We don't just teach syntax. You'll learn to debug complex issues, optimize performance, and make technical decisions under pressure.
Career Preparation
Portfolio development, technical interviews, and networking with local game studios. We help you present your skills professionally.
Our winter intensive program launches January 2026 for students who want to dive deeper into advanced topics like multiplayer mechanics and real-time data visualization. Applications open October 2025.
